Overview

Educational Tools: As you know technology changes quickly and since Schuster is committed to all those we work with it is important to us that we provide the most current information on new products and advancements in our industry. There are many new educational tools that are going to be available to our customers, vendors, and employees that will help to accomplish this task. We will be planning to keep our website and email announcements up-to-date with FAQs, webinars, powerpoints, and podcasts, to name a few.
FAQs

Samtec's Signal Integrity E-mail Tips:

  • (December, 2007) When do I need a High Speed Connector?
  • The question "When do I need to use a high speed connector?" often arises. Unfortunately, with each application, the answer will vary. One rule of thumb is based on the signal edge rate or rise time. Rise time is generally defined as the amount of time it takes for a signal to switch from one logic state to another. With rise times faster than about 1ns, many interconnects become a critical portion of the transmission path, and further analysis is often required.

For more information on Signal Integrity, please contact Samtec's Signal Integrity Group at sig@samtec.com

Samtec's Flex Circuitry E-mail Tips:

  • (October, 2007) Can I put mixed interconnect style components on a single layer flex and have the components all on the same side?

Yes, by using various methods to generate apertures in the dielectric materials, mixed technology components can be populated on teh same side of the flex. However, through-hole solder pads are usually on the opposite side from surface mount pads if you want to keep all components on one side.
