Especially the problem of crevice corrosion between different spare parts like levers, die casts and fixing parts of the housings, caused by electrochemical reactions, is addressed. Two types of housings are available which offer proven salt mist resistance according to IEC 60512-11:2002 for more than 1440 hours or 500 hours, depending on customer requirements. Aries Electronics now offers machined high-frequencycenter probe test sockets to accommodate IC devices with a lead pitch of 0.30 mm. With very low inductance and capacitance, the sockets are ideal for a wide variety of BGA (ball grid array), CSP (chip scale package) and MLF (micro land frame) packages.
Reduced inductance, increased board density and finer pitch array packages are made possible thanks to a four-point crown or sharp point gold plated 0.30 mm pitch probe pin, spring and flanged bottom pin, which contacts the tail of the probe pin to shorten the signal path. A signal path of just 0.077 inches (1.96 mm) allows for minimal signal loss and higher bandwidth capacity with the new Aries’ machined high-frequency sockets.
The solderless pressure mount spring probes allow easy mounting of the socket to a test board and device solder ball or pad, while socket locating posts ensure accurate positioning of the socket to the board. The sockets are equipped with chip guides to allow exact device location and four-point edge male contacts for precise mating of the device. The socket’s small footprint ensures maximum use of the test board area for increased efficiency.
Spring loaded contacts, made of gold-plated beryllium copper, provide a high life cycle of up to 500,000 cycles. Socket body material is Torlon PAI and all hardware is stainless steel.
The socket’s contact forces are 15 g per contact on a 0.30 mm to 0.35 mm pitch, 16 g per contact on a 0.40 mm to 0.45 mm pitch and 25 g per contact on a 0.50 mm pitch or larger. Contact resistance is less than 40 milliohms. Probe self-inductance on the new socket is 0.51 nH for large probes and 0.59 nH for small probes.

Ergonomic Soft Sided Hand Held Enclosures...
Hammond Manufacturing has added the AA, the A and C sizes to its 1553 family of soft-sided hand held enclosures; all models feature an ergonomic curved shape that fits comfortably into the hand.
The AA measures 2.95 x 1.67 x 0.67 inches (75 x 50 x 17mm), the A 3.94 x 2.41 x 0.67 inches (100 x 61 x 17mm) and the C size, available with or without a battery compartment is 4.62 x 3.11 x 1.30 inches (117 x 79 x 33mm). The C size is a deeper version of the existing B size, which has a depth of 0.95 inches, 24mm.
Available in RAL 7035 light grey or RAL 9011 black, both colours feature RAL 7012 grey over-moulded soft side grips. The connection is made reliably and quickly using proven insulation displacement terminal technology. The insulation displacement terminals are designed for rigid and flexible conductors with an extremely broad range of wire cross-sections. The Harting Han-Eco® is a hood and housing series made of thermoplastic material. Han-Eco® is the ideal solution for applications that do not require the full range of product features offered by the Han® B series of hoods and housings, and users want to take advantage of the weight and cost advantages.
Like the Han® B standard series, the Han-Eco® series is available in the following sizes: 6 B, 10 B, 16 B and 24 B. Depending on size, versions of the hoods with straight or angled entries and housings, bulkhead mounting, can be supplied. The cable exits are available with metric threading, a cable gland is implemented. For housing sizes 6 B and 10 B size of the cable gland is M32, for 16 B and 24 B cable gland M40 is used. The new LEA Series wire-to-board, crimp style disconnectable connectors provide optimum performance and subminiature size for low current, low voltage conditions required by LED light bars. A super compact, low profile connector, the LEA has a 1.8 mm (.071”) pitch. With a mated side entry height of only 3.0 mm (.118”), its low profile prevents interference with the luminescence angle of the pcb mounted LEDs. Before 1968, audible alarms were all electromechanical devices that used too much power and had mechanical components that eventually wore out. In 1968, the first true electronic alarms hit the market. They featured piezo electric transducers and solid state electronic circuit components, producing a loud sound using much less power and having greater reliability. More than three decades later, not much had changed. Electronic alarms were still being designed with standard circuit components (capacitors, resistors, transistors, etc.) which meant that developing a new sound or model could take a couple of monts because of the prototyping and manual assembly involved. Also, only a limited number of different types of sounds and timings were available due to space limitations and cost.
However, in the mid-2000's, audible alarm technology took another leap forward with the intorduction of micro-controllers as the core technology inside the alarm circuitry. With this technology, the signal that controls the sound is generated by software cosde which is downloaded into a programmable micro-controller mounted on a circuit board (along with other components) to provide the complete circuitry controlling the audible alarm. This allowed the alarms to really "get smart" in a hurry. Unlike the previous generation of "dumb" alarms that made the same sound after being activated, alarms using the new micro-controller technology open up extensive opportunities for designers to develop unique capabilities that can enhance value and increase safety for their equipment, machinery, or vehicles.

Phoenix Contact has expanded its range of push-in terminal blocks. With the addition of 1.5 mm2 and 4 mm2 variants, the line now allows termination of ferruled or stranded wire from 24 to 10 AWG.
The leg-spring design is engineered to increase termination speed and reduce operator fatigue. The modular push-in terminal blocks have 250 newtons of pullout force.
This system can also be used with stranded wire using an orange actuation button. The termination area and the touch-proof orange activation button are clearly identified. Like the original 2.5 mm2 version, the two new sizes are available in single-, twin-, Quattro- and double-level feed through, as well as function blocks.

Samtec’s High Speed Edge Rate product line now includes 0,5mm pitch connector strips and a right angle socket. Linear LED Driver with High Voltage Driving Solution...
Supertex, Inc. introduced CL220, a high voltage, temperature-compensated, constant current, LED driver integrated circuit (IC). It is designed to drive a string of LEDs with a constant current of 20mA, and multiple ICs can be used in parallel to provide higher output currents in increments of 20mA. It can be used in a variety of solid-state lighting applications, such as signage, automotive, industrial indicators and accent lighting.
CL220 operates from 5 to 220V, and is trimmed to provide a constant output current of 20mA (+/-10%) at an input voltage of 5 to 160V. It can be used as a two terminal constant current source or constant current sink. CL220’s temperature- compensated output current maintains consistent LED brightness regardless of temperature fluctuations. The IC also withstands transients without the need for any additional transient protection circuitry when used as recommended.

Switch Dimmable LED Driver Works With Any Standard Light Switch...
Supertex, Inc. introduced HV9801A, a power saving, switch dimmable, LED driver integrated circuit (IC) designed to drive LEDs in dimmable household and office lighting applications. The IC dims LED lamp brightness to one of four preset levels through simple, rapid toggling of a light switch. Light levels progress up and down sequentially and if the switch is turned off for more than a second, the lamp returns to full brightness.
Switch dimming offers an attractive alternative to TRIAC dimming as it enables dimming of lamps in any location, provides a better quality light source without flicker, and increases energy efficiency through the reduction of the excess circuitry required to accommodate the holding current of the TRIAC dimmer. HV9801A works with all existing light switches and doesn’t require installation of a wall dimmer.
As opposed to many LED driver ICs that utilize peak current control to regulate output current, HV9801A employs a patented average-mode current control method that requires no loop compensation or high side sensing. This proprietary control method provides quick and accurate response to input voltage fluctuations and delivers exceptional accuracy (over 97%) and line and load regulation of the LED current.

Supertex, Inc. (Nasdaq GS: SUPX) today introduced HV9861A, an open loop, average current mode control, LED driver integrated circuit (IC) designed to drive LEDs using a buck topology. It is well suited for a variety of solid-state lighting applications, including TV and monitor backlighting, signage, decorative, and general lighting.
Because of the patented, novel scheme of current control it employs, HV9861A doesn’t produce a peak-to-average error like many LED driver ICs, and therefore, it greatly improves the accuracy and line and load regulation of the LED current. Torex has developed a high precision voltage detector with internal delay circuit and manual reset function.
The XC6127 series of voltage detectors feature high precision (±0.8% at 25°C), an internal delay circuit, and a manual reset function. The release delay time is set from 50ms up to a maximum of 800ms, making it possible to obtain a long reset time.
The operating voltage range is 0.7V to 6.0V. The detection voltage range is 1.5V to 5.5V, and the detection voltage can be set in steps of 0.1V within this range. N-ch open drain or CMOS output can be selected for the output format. A forcible reset function using the manual reset pin is available. Torex has developed a 10.5V input, low power consumption, high-speed 200mA LDO regulator. The XC6505 series of LDO regulators achieve load-transient response characteristics (PSRR=60dB@1kHz) on a par with high-speed LDO regulators but with the added benefit of a low power consumption of only 5.5?A.
The input voltage range is 1.7 to 10.5V, makes this series ideal for specifications that require 5V supply, such as applications that operate on a Li-ion two-cell battery, four dry cell batteries, or a 9V dry cell battery, or in the latter stage of 6V output DC/DC. The maximum output current is 200mA and the output voltage range can be set in steps of 0.1V within a range of 1.5 to 8.0V. Voltage accuracy is ±1.0% (2.0 to 8.0V) or ±20mV (1.5 to 1.9V). The XCL201/XCL202 series expands our lineup of step-down micro DC/DC converters with integrated coil and control IC. Like our previous converters, an ultra-small size has been achieved with dimensions of 2.5 x 2.0 x h1.0mm, enabling these converters to make a huge contribution to the development of smaller and more lightweight portable devices.
A power source with a maximum load current of 400mA can be configured by simply adding two ceramic capacitors to the micro DC/DC. The operating voltage is 2.0V to 6.0V. The output voltage is fixed and can be selected in steps of 0.05V within the range 0.8 to 4.0V (accuracy ±2.0%). The control IC operates at a switching frequency of 1.2MHz (accuracy ±15%) and uses synchronous rectification with an internal 0.42? P-ch driver transistor and 0.52? N-ch switch transistor. For the operation mode, PWM control (XCL201) or PWM/PFM auto switching control (XCL202) can be selected. The XCL202 freely responds at high speed to a full range of loads from light loads to heavy loads, achieves low ripple and high efficiency, and reduces quiescent current to 1.0?A or less by turning off all circuits during standby. A switching frequency of 1.2MHz is used to improve overall efficiency by 2% to 5% compared to the previous XCL205/XCL206/XCL207. An internal under-voltage lockout (UVLO) function forcibly turns off the internal driver transistor when the input voltage is 1.4V or less.
An internal high-speed soft-start function starts the output voltage at 0.25ms (TYP). A CL discharge function discharges the charge of the load capacitance CL by turning on an internal switch during standby. This makes it possible to rapidly return the output voltage to the VSS level. New Security Sirens and Alerts...
Transducers USA announced the availability of its new line of security sirens and alerts as it broadens its efforts to enlarge its product offerings to the markets it seeks to serve.
The new product line of security enhancing products is offered in configurations of surface mount for keypads, panel enunciators, and the larger and louder sirens, many with built in strobe light availability.
Operating voltages on the larger sirens are at 12VDC, some of which are available with internal battery back-up systems. Volume output ranges up to 100 ~ 120db.
In addition to the so-called security market, Transducers USA alerts and security products are ideal for equipment and laboratory alert notifications of production and/or procedural shut-downs as well as for process completion notices.
World Products Environmental Metal Oxide Varistors series well suited for smart grid projects have UL, CSA, SEV and VDE approvals. VDE approvals are in conjunction with IEC61051-2. Plus specific types comply with Accelerated Aging Test Requirements per ANSI/IEEE C62.11. The factory is ISO and TS16949 certified. Taped Parts conform to EIA standards.
